"I must read the Gospels daily in order to absorb the Word into my soul. His Gospels are more than an example of what He accomplished; they give me the power to imitate that example and duplicate it in my own life."

Known as the "Lily of the Mohawks", and the "Genevieve of New France" an Indian virgin of the Mohawk tribe, born according to some authorities at the Turtle Castle of Ossernenon, according to others at the village of Gandaouge, in 1656; died at Caughnawaga, Canada, April 17, 1680. Upon her death devotion to her began immediately to be manifested by her people. Many pilgrims visit her grave in Caughnawaga where a monument to her memory was erected by the Rev. Clarence Walworth in 1884; and Councils of Baltimore and Quebec have petitioned for her canonization. On June 22,1980, she was beatified by Pope John Paul II; her feast day is celebrated on July 14th. On October 21, 2012, she was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI.

ST. KATERI TEKAKWITHA STATUE

Made of a plaster-resin mix, this statue measures
16 1/2" high and depicts a very beautiful, postmortem image of the Saint. When St. Kateri died on April 17, 1680, witnesses said that her emaciated face changed color and became like that of a healthy child. The lines of suffering, even the smallpox scars that she bore from the time she was four, suddenly disappeared and the touch of a smile came upon her lips shortly after her death.
